Sept 19 / Riverside Park / 2001 Monroe Ave NE, Grand Rapids / 10 am – 1 pm / This
park has plenty of shade trees, bike paths, walking trails, river views, bridges, free parking
and restrooms. Keep in mind the park is also a frisbee golf course so heads up for incoming
frisbees. Directions from downtown Grand Rapids: travel north on Monroe; when you see
a sign marked Riverside Park / Boat Launch #2 turn left. This will get you into the park. I'll
be in there somewhere. Have fun!

Join Jill Scripps from Lavender Moon Garden + Studio for an afternoon of nature and art! She will have lots of leaves, flowers, botanicals, and other objects to use with the pre-prepared light-sensitive paper and the sun to make beautiful cyanotypes with our collections. Feel free to bring some of your own pressed botanicals as well!

By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a basic understanding of how cyanotype printing works and be able to use techniques to use found and natural objects to compose your own cyanotype art.

Everyone will leave with 5 completed cyanotypes! 

September 16 / Luton Prairie / 5871 Kies St NE / Rockford / 10 am – 1 pm / Luton is
truly a beautiful prairie ecosystem. Even if you don't feel like painting, there are miles of
trails to walk or you can just set up a chair and enjoy the splendor of it all. I'll be in the Kies
Rd parking lot, not the one on 10 Mile Rd and I hope to see you there. Directions from
Grand Rapids; M44 north to Courtland. Turn R for 1.4 miles. Then R on Kies for about a
half mile. The Kies Rd parking lot is on the left.

September 23 / Eastmanville Farm / 7851 Leonard Road / 10 am – 1 pm
The farm was built in the 1930's as a poor farm to provide indigent people with work and
housing. Today it is a well maintained Ottawa County Park with rolling hills and hiking trails
that lead through a beautiful meadow, down to a river. There's plenty of parking and a
couple port-a-jons. DIRECTIONS: It's about twenty miles west Grand Rapids. Just get on
Leonard Street and head west.

September 30 / Coopersville / 225 South Hudson / 10 am – 1 pm
There's a lot to see (and paint) in this little town, including an old steam engine, some old
passenger cars and lots of small town America Victorian style buildings, beautifully
restored. A good place to park and meet would be the City Park on Main Street next to the
big clock. Plenty of parking up and down Main Street and restrooms are available in the
municipal building and in the restaurants.
